Holy FUCK is this as accurate as ever. Same applies to male's mental health and suicide. Men online will bring it up solely as a counterargument or as a means to get women to shut up about their own struggles. When it comes to actually investing in the cause or just being the slightest bit compassionate, nobody cares. Larpers, the lot of 'em.

handofdog responds:

Yes, there's a contradictory pattern of men isolating each other, while reporting a loneliness epidemic. Male victims often opt to say they enjoyed it or that it was no big deal, while exhibiting destructive traits. They're taught this "suck it up" culture on purpose because it helps contribute to the quiet "solidarity" of keeping hush about assault/harassment rates by men. If men showed compassion to other men about any of these things, they'd realize it was an atrocity done to them and in turn have empathy for women, too. (I'm aware some do already, but some men say they don't care about assault on women because it happened to them & they turned out "fine" which I find very sad and dangerous).

Everything about that culture is to continue the cycle of abuse and profiting off people not able to speak up. But I really like the Tool song "Bottom", as I've always interpreted it as an abuse victim coming to terms with what happened on their own, and using that new development, even if darkly constructed, to move forward.

I could talk on too much, but I liked this comment.

I feel like I'm stalking your page based on how quickly I send my reviews, but I swear I just happen to open Newgrounds at very timely moments. On a more relevant note, I like the way the characters sort of react to their hairstyles, approving/dissaproving of them in ways that exhibit their personalities. At-Tan hates long hair because it messes with her sensory issues (at least I assume). Doc feels embarrassed with short hair because I like to think somebody as meek as him wouldn't be the type to really make brazen decisions and experiment with his appearance. And Micah, well... y'know how he is.

handofdog responds:

It's all right, I typically post around same times.

Yeah, it is mostly right. Regarding Doctor, the super short hair makes him feel exposed. Even professionally, he still keeps the right side of his hair long to feel security.

Wow, At-Tan's speech really felt like a punch to the gut. I'm honestly surprised it took her that long to be silenced. Then again, even if she was heard, it wouldn't change a thing. Most scandals seem to become old news within a week, and the increasingly less clandestine world of sex trafficking will keep spinning.

The solution to this depravity is a real head-scratcher. Legalising sex-work, while seen as empowering, only lures more applicants into demoralizing situations. On the other end of the spectrum, stringent, fundamentally religious policies don't seem to protect women either, with entire nation-states like current-day Afghanistan being an example. Bummer, dude.

handofdog responds:

A real head-scratcher, indeed. For starters, prostitutes themselves should have never been arrested, as they are the victim in the situation. Legalizing it only protects pimps and incentivizes johns to buy, creating an even higher demand to traffick women & little girls. So keeping it illegal, with harsher reaction on the johns might deter demand. And safety nets where women can get help without resorting to selling their body, or living in a regime where they are punished for their body.

But I am just a hobby artist, not a politician.

It's alright if you can't draw often. Y'ain't gotta stress or up your output as a result of your burgeoning follow count. Quality over quantity, as people say.

handofdog responds:

It's more that I get stressed from not being able to draw (due to irl), since it's my only release. I get upset and rusty from the buildup.

So doodling something is better than nothing, at least for me. Thanks, I understand what you mean.

"At-taboys" is such a clever name, especially considering there's a militant fascist group that's also got "boys" in its title.

handofdog responds:

Thank you, I thought it more clever with the overall theme and sounds more sarcastic.

All men in At-tan's world are At-taboys, but not all At-taboys are fascists (Micah is just like that).

This artwork makes me feel so conflicted. I feel a sense of sympathy for the reoccurring digs At-Tan has to deal with, yet at the same time, I feel insulted, even when I know I have no right to be. I'm guilty. I must admit that I feel called out by this artwork, though I know that it's just my sense of shame swelling. I'm the guy on the right who objectifies, because creating vapid digital art that only taps into base desires is the easiest thing to do. I really wish I could truly dig deep and create something more meaningful. Something akin to this, I guess.

This art is truly eye-opening and inspiring in a sense that it addresses an aspect of my subconscious that I don't like to think about. I try to pass it off as "part of my nature" despite knowing full well that I can control it. This is the first post involving At-Tan I've seen, so I'm sorry if the meaning flew over my head, if I'm reading into it too much, or if I'm not caught up on some storyline or something.

handofdog responds:

I appreciate your honesty. The takeaway here is not that men should be shot the moment they produce a horny art piece and that's that (because if you'd like my true opinion, not At-tan's, I simply ignore what I'm not interested in). It's the fact that men do not believe women are human or possess a soul. Some men are genuinely confused as to why a woman would want to create anything, if the general consensus is that she did not have a soul and isn't human. Women have no permanence in the eyes of men unless they are on their knees. The art world is full of molestation and centipedes. There is always a way to keep looking and reading and interpreting yourself, but I hope that this perspective, being able to view violations through her, isn't wasted.

I couldn't tell you what to draw, you will have to draw what you will, however you will it. You can't brute force "meaning". I draw what God tells me to. It's compulsory. It's impossible for me to claim I am the sole creator in what I produce. I am not suicidal because I'm aware of how important physical bodies are. There are things that can't make it to this world unless it's channeled through material means. Some people make music or novels, I like to draw and so those things have to go through me through drawing. Specific circumstances, those things that made me cry, and burns us in hell (hell only exists on Earth). I was being punished for a long time until I realized it was only a punishment.

This is a connected series with some storyline but with occassional disjointed entry (like this one). Everything is all here in one place, if you are interested in reading. It's up to you.

Awesome and creative. Wish I had the energy to learn a new medium.
